Wall Art

I love big pictures & fun displays for them. I believe strongly that we shouldn’t just let our images collect dust on our hard drives but should be proudly displaying them in our homes. Pictures can totally finish off a room and make it have that personal touch. I encourage you all to start thinking about ways to get those pictures on your walls! So to start things off I thought I’d show you what we have on our walls. I planned on doing a lot more all over the house, but with turning it into a home studio I have to keep a few walls bare for sessions. We have plans for more photo galleries and hopefully soon we will have the time to finish the others! This is just a few ways I have images up at my house…

This lovely idea was my husbands and I LOVE it! We wanted to tie the twine to old fashioned door knobs but we weren’t so successful finding them. I painted the clothes pins and then we secured the images to the wall to not tilt by using command strips. I also LOVE command strips :) Oh and this is in my office! This big daddy screamed a photo gallery when we first moved in, the hard part was designing the puzzle and then picking the right pictures for each piece. I often find myself looking at this display and smiling… I love my little family :) Again, secured with command strips. Here is a pull back of the family room display. The picture on the right is the opposite wall in my office. As you can see, I’m not a frame person too much. Though I do have a plan for a framed gallery wall, but I will be removing the glass because I personally feel that ruins the effect of a big beautiful image. So start thinking about what wall you want to start filling with beautiful memories and next week I’ll help by giving a few more tips and tricks to encourage you!

Tara | Portland Oregon Perfectly You

I’m back!!! If you follow my business on facebook you’d know I’ve been crazy busy posting all my senior reps these last couple weeks so while it may look like I disappeared I was just in another world for a bit :) I’m still trying to figure out the best way to showcase my business images, providing the furthest reach so I decided to try something new. But I miss my dear blog so today I am sharing the lovely Tara with you all!

Tara reached out to me because she needed to get some updated images of herself for her health blog, you should totally add it to your daily blog visits! But she’s also Mrs. Portland and needed headshots for the upcoming pageant in the fall. The Mondays….

Hello all!

I just came in from enjoying some of the beautiful sunshine we have been blessed with this week in the PNW! It feels amazing :)

Yes today is Monday, and yes I seem to have the case of the Mondays… I was going good but have quickly began to derail. I wish that I was one of those people, you know, the ones that when they have a never ending to-do list that they just dig in and continue to plow away full force. It doesn’t intimidate, it invigorates. Unfortunately I am not one of them. I have been very proud of myself these last couple weeks, possibly even thought I’d joined their team, but alas, I have came back to reality. When I’m overwhelmed I can just shut down, I give myself lots of  ‘me’ time to feel better and get re-energized to dig back in.

You see, the problem is, I’m married to one of them. I’m not so sure he always knows how to read the signs, so he keeps plowing away, oblivious to my slow disintegration happening in front of his eyes. I’m fairly certain one of his favorite things to do is always and I mean always add to the list. You finished one? Great, let me start you a new one!! Thankfully I find it endearing to see how much he wants me to succeed and that he’s so supportive, but I won’t lie, I have my moments when I want to show him where I think he should put that list ;)

Thankfully, I’m aware of when I’m starting to shut down and I’m not afraid to ask for help. And that man I spend my life with? He’s starting to catch on and has totally started marking some things on the list with a J, what a sweet man picking up my slack :)

Being a business owner is hard work, lots of hard work. It never stops. But I’m so thankful for my talents and that I get to share it with others as my way of making a living.

I know I’m not the only one who feels overwhelmed with life, I just encourage you to recognize it and find a way that you can re-group and start fresh. It’s ok to give yourself a break, to get recharged and rested. In fact, I’d venture to say if you’re not one of them, taking a break is the only way to not stay sane!!!  I dive into my favorite shows on t.v., some prefer to go for a run or do a little shopping, we all have our own unique ways of getting refreshed… But be careful not to take too long of a break, because that list you ran from, it most certainly continues to grow :)

Happy Monday y’all!

Where did I go?!

Well since you asked ;)

I feel horrible that I haven’t blogged in over a week, but it’s not because I’ve been sitting on the couch watching Vampire Diaries Marathons, though that sounds absolutely delicious :) Instead, I spent the last week doing 4 shoots with a total of 11 different people! And I’m just about to hit the road for another day of photography! So since I barely have time to get this post published I decided to make it short and quick, but filled with yummy teasers.

The Beautiful Mrs. Portland!!

Callie :)Little Rachael, hard to believe I graduated with her brother!

My first four rep girls I had the pleasure of meeting, Courtney, Kelsea, Ashleah, & Chelsea! The beautiful KristenAnd two sessions, one with my sister and one with my lemmonheads together :)

Miss Heather | Portland Oregon Perfectly You Session

I hadn’t met Heather before our session, but by the time the girls were leaving I was giving her the biggest hug, just like we were old friends! She has the sweetest personality, one that you can’t help but love.

Heather decided to share the experience with you all from her viewpoint and I can’t begin to tell you how happy I was when I read this message from her!

I absolutely loved my Perfectly You Session! For quite some time I had wanted to have some professional photos taken of myself, but never really had a great referral for where to have them done…. (In fact, when I needed a head shot a few years ago for a new job, I resorted to going to the place I took my small children to each year for THEIR pictures, yikes!) Needless to say, I was still ready for something a little more “Me”. And maybe a little something to give my husband as a reminder that under my Tired-Sweat-Pant-Wearing-Mommy-Uniform, there was still a sexy siren!!!!

My shoot with Marissa was about a lot more than putting on something pretty and just saying, “cheese” in front of a camera….. She made me feel comfortable, beautiful, and confident. I loved how she gave me all sorts of different, flattering poses, as I had zero idea of what to do to except suck it in, hahaha! The whole experience was just plain fun; my favorite moments were the times I tried to smile softly, but just burst out laughing! She managed to capture both my silly, and my softer sides regardless, and that was a treasure for ME, personally……

As a woman, I can be pretty hard on myself. For lots of things. Messy house, split ends, impatience with my kids, not being as organized as I’d like, what have you. And most of the time I feel like (thus must surely look like), that loud, harried witch in the old Bugs Bunny Cartoon whose bobby pins fly out every time she zips off on her broom- Whether I’m working, playing, or just doing life in general! It’s so nice to have a professional picture that says otherwise!

And it was also nice when my husband saw it for the first time and said, “THAT’S how I see you everyday, Sweetheart”… It’s been so fun to start seeing myself in a new light more and more everyday, too! Who knew that this session ended up being more for me than for him?!?!

I absolutely think more women would benefit from affording themselves the special time and opportunity to reconnect with their own “Perfect You”. I love that I have those moments forever captured now of my own experience in doing just that! No more settling for Witch-y Women or Bugs Bunny. Every now and then you gotta pull out Jessica Rabbit!!!!!

Thank you, Marissa, for being an amazing photographer, and (new!) friend. You really blessed me.
Smiles,
Heather

We had a ton of fun throughout her entire session and I got some amazing photographs of her. This here is just a small taste of her whole gallery, I’m telling you, this girl was adorable! I think this one is my favorite picture of her, but as you’ll soon see, it’s so hard to pick just one! I won’t disclose her age but I will say this, you would NEVER guess!!!!I like to make a fool of myself at some point during the shoot, why? Well because, you get this type of a reaction, which is…. priceless!

Beautiful!!!Ah I love the lighting here!!!Hot momma!!!Simply stunning Heather, I mean, come on!

Well shoot dang, this one could be my favorite too!Thank you Heather for just letting loose and having fun, I think you got some amazing images because of it :) xo
